Welcome!

Hello, my name is Raymond Zuniga and welcome to my website! I am a proud Kansas Citian that is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Administration and Policy in the School of Public Affairs at American University in Washington, DC. While I am passionate about issues that span the social justice world, my enduring interests concern policies that affect educational access and opportunity for young people, especially historically underrepresented/undocumented students and generally in the higher education context. I am also particular about Mexican food and BBQ, and I closely follow my hometown sports franchises.

Please, feel free to peruse this website to find out more about myself and my interests.

VA Tech

Hello everyone!

Its been some time since my introductory post, but there is big news!  I recently accepted an offer from the Center for Public Administration and Policy at Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, VA) for an Assistant Professor position.  The job market was very intense, but I am very fortunate to receive an offer from a great school with proud progressive traditions and legacy.  I’ll continue to focus on my research that examines the intersection of immigration policy and practive with educational outcomes for Latino youth, both for citizens and noncitizens.  I’ll also look for ways to continue university oriented research to improve both student and organizational outcomes as well. It’ll be an interesting transition for sure, but I look forward to the new challenges and opportunities that await.
